Meet our new ewes from Fred & Pat Groverman, CA.
Our Shropshire History
Our family has been raising Shropshire sheep since 1965. We have focused our breeding program on productivity, breed type and structural correctness. Our flock is enrolled in the Scrapie Flock Certification Program and is DNA tested spider free. Many of our ewes are QR or RR. Our flock is forage based with light grain supplementation for growing and pregnant animals. Our annual vaccination program includes an 8-way, rabies, vibrio and lepto.
We began working with the Groverman (California) genetics in 2006, and added genetics from Hiemke Family Shropshires (Wisconsin) in 2009. It was a natural choice to contact Fred Groverman when we decided to expand our flock in spring 2011. Fred's family has been breeding Shropshire sheep since 1934, and we are very excited to move the Shropshire breed forward working with his genetics.
